Our rescue is run entirely by volunteers! We all have lives that are full of family, jobs, pets, and activities but our love for dogs and passion for rescue drives us to always make time to do our part to make a difference! There are many ways that you can help. See below some of the positions we are currently looking to fill as well as some of the many great ways you can help!
What Volunteering With Rain City Rescue Looks Like
We have many areas in which we need volunteer help so there is always a way you can help! Positions can even be created around your own talents and areas of specialty, just let us know what you want to offer!
Current positions we are looking to fill:
Foster Coordinator: Helps advertise for fosters, contacts fosters when foster help is needed, coordinates the pick up/drop off of the dog needing foster care and stays in contact with fosters who currently have dogs in their home to stay aware of dog's progress, health and any needs before placement.
Volunteer Coordinator: Helps advertise for volunteers, contacts volunteers when we have events or work requiring their help, assists in communication between different groups of volunteers and the core team and runs the Rain City Rescue Volunteer Facebook page.
Adoption Event Volunteer: Assists with... event set-up/tear-down, transport off-load, bathing dogs, walking dogs, monitoring (playing with) dogs, clean-up, etc.
General Event Volunteer: Event set-up/tear down, assisting event participants (give directions, answer general questions, etc), hand out flyers, collect donations, etc. (These events are currently in the planning stages.)
Home Check Volunteer: Home check for possible adopters in your area. This involves making sure the home is safe and accurate to the information that has been shared with us.
Reference Check Volunteer: Call and check references for feedback on perspective adopters.
Follow-Up Check Volunteer: Past adopters to check on the dog's status, assess any needs and give RCR updates.
Administrative Assistant: Assist with data and record keeping. (Requires computer skills)
Transportation Volunteer: Transports dogs for various reasons (e.g. dog transportation to events, vet, foster, etc.) You may volunteer for any distance you are willing to drive.
Staff Photographer: Photograph events or dogs needing updated pictures for advertisement. (Requires advanced ametuer photography skills)
Foster Volunteer: Welcome one of our dogs into your home until a forever family is found for them! Please fill out a foster application if you wish to be available to foster.
